More than 30 employees will be laid off from Savage Arms in Westfield, according to their owner, ATK Sporting Group.
According to the Director of Communications of ATK Sporting Group, Tim Brandt, 37 manufacturing employees will lose their jobs in the next one to two weeks.
Brandt says the move will put the company in a better position to meet current business needs.
"We will continue to monitor this location and make adjustments as necessary. We are committed to allocating the resources needed to provide hunters and sport shooters the affordable, accurate and reliable Savage firearms they've enjoyed for generations," Brandt said.
