Holyoke Mayor Alex Morse gave his State of the City address Tuesday night during the city council meeting.
In his speech, Morse touched on a number of subjects including a more efficient budget of $123.6 million for the current fiscal year, graduation rates and new construction throughout the city.
He also mentioned the ongoing saga of the closing of the Geriatric Authority of Holyoke.
"We have been working hand in hand with the Department of Public Health and the Attorney General's office to ensure a smooth closure. We have worked diligently to transfer every resident to another healthcare facility. And upon the request of my office, the State Department of Workforce and Labor have put together a response team to help employees find other work opportunities or career training programs," said Morse.
Morse said there are 14 residents who remain at the authority. It is scheduled to officially close its doors on May 13.
