TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

An arrest has been made in the murder of a Tucson woman found dead in her midtown home Sunday morning.

Police say 26-year-old Antonio Moore killed the woman, but left her three-year-old child unharmed before leaving the home in the 3000 block of North Geronimo Avenue.

We don't know for sure what the relationship was between suspect and the victim.

But we do know they lived together, along with the woman's three year old child in that midtown apartment.

That's where authorities were called early Sunday morning after a neighbor found the victim unresponsive and with obvious signs of trauma.

What's interesting is the case was originally investigated as a shooting, police say, because shots were reportedly heard coming from the apartment around 2:30 that morning.

But when authorities arrived on scene, they determined the woman had not been shot -- she'd been stabbed -- multiple times, in fact.

And this, police say, is the person who did it: 26 year old Antonio Moore.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the victim's name was still not released.

All we know for sure is she was a mother, she was 43 years old and she died a very violent death.

"The homicide detectives were working some strong leads," says Tucson Police Sgt. Pete Dugan.

"They were actually able to get with the county attorney's office and obtain a warrant for 26 year old Antonio Moore in connection with the homicide that occurred the day before.  Later that afternoon, at about 2:30, TPD officers with the help of the US Marshals were able to locate Mr. Moore and take him into custody," Dugan said.

Once again, the three year old child in this case was not harmed in any way.

Moore was identified and arrested within 24 hours of the crime.

He sits in the Pima County Jail charged with one count of first degree murder.
