Bouncer stabbed outside Springfield nightclub

An altercation broke out inside of the Aquarius Nightclub that carried out into the streets and eventually led to a bouncer being stabbed.

It was about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, just before closing time, when Davey Pagan allegedly stabbed a 30-year-old bouncer in his abdomen, according to Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney.

People inside the bar, located at 1217 State Street, witnessed the stabbing and watched Pagan leave the club in a brown Chevy Malibu with Connecticut plates.

A Springfield detective spotted the car on State Street after the driver fled the scene with Davey, Delaney said. Officers stopped Davey on Taylor Street. Springfield police found blood on his clothes and located abloody knife inside of the Malibu he was traveling in.

Onceat the police station officers discovered that Pagan had a camera filmcontainer with 11 oxycodone pills that he was allegedly selling, Delaney said.

Pagan, 34, of 970 Liberty St., Springfield, was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a class D substance with intent to distribute (oxycodone), Delaney said. He will be arraigned in Springfield District Court today
