Springfield DPW sends out multiple pothole crews

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

After the worst winter for potholes in decades, it seems like they keep popping up all over Western Mass as we move into spring and the ground begins to thaw.

Here in Springfield, Department of Public Works crews will be on the city's streets to address the potholes with hot patch for the first time in 2014.

"The DPW will continue to fill potholes based on public safety priority, starting with potholes on arterial routes and making their way to secondary and residential routes," DPW Deputy Director Mario Mazza stated in a news release. "This process will continue until all potholes are filled."

The DPW has three dedicated crews working five days a week on two shifts filling potholes.

The city has already filled more than 3,000 potholes with cold path so far this season. They have filled an additional 850 potholes with hot patch since Tuesday.

Now the DPW is asking for your help. If your street is in need of filling, call the city's 3-1-1 call center or call (413) 736-3111.
