A man was rescued by Springfield Fire Department personnel after he leaped from the Memorial Bridge into the Connecticut River Tuesday afternoon.
The man held on to the bridge base for several minutes after falling in the water.
When police arrived, he was standing in three feet of water and screaming. Officers located a pill bottle on the bridge where he jumped from, police said.
The man boarded a rescue vessel and was conscious when he was taken to shore.
