Police ID suspect in January stabbing incident

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Tucson Police has identified the suspect in a stabbing incident near Catalina High School in January.

According to police, 21-year-old Robert Anthony Vasquez allegedly stabbed a student and robbed another at knife point before fleeing the scene on a stolen bicycle on Jan. 9. The student was treated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Vasquez, who also goes by the name Anthony Ortiz, has a warrant for his arrest reference aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and armed robbery.

Vasquez is described as Hispanic, 5'4" to 5'5" tall, 130 to 150 pounds, with green eyes and brown hair. He was last seen wearing a dark gray zip-up hoodie, light gray shirt, jeans, gray "Raiders" baseball cap, and white sneakers.

He was in possession of a black BMX style "Ripper" bicycle, similar to the one in the photo with this story.

Anyone with information about the incident or the suspect is urged to call 88-CRIME or the TPD Aggravated Assault Unit at 837-7552.
