Less than 4 percent of Westfield voters turned out for Tuesday's special state primary for the fourth Hampden District State House seat.
The election was held to determine who will replace Don Humason, who vacated the seat when he was elected to the state Senate.
Democrat John Velis received 393 votes while Republican Dan Allie walked away with 462 votes.
State law requires a primary election even if there is only one name on each ballot.
The special general election will be held on April 1.
