Springfield police search for man who allegedly tried to kill Belchertown woman with knife

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Springfield police surrounded a house on Paige Boulevard on Tuesday after locating a Jeep owned by a man wanted for allegedly assaulting a female victim with a knife last week.

Belchertown police began searching for Orlando "Danny" Rodriguez after he allegedly assaulted a woman and a female minor in Belchertown early Thursday morning, police said. He was wanted for attempted murder, according to the Belchertown Police Department Facebook page.

Police tracked Rodriguez's cell phone to a location in Springfield. His jeep was found, but officers were unable to find him.

Orlando should be considered armed and dangerous and shouldn't be approached by members of the public. If anyone has information regarding Orlando's whereabouts, please contact the Belchertown Police Department at 413-323-6685.

CBS 3 Springfield's Bill Rapp will have more in the first five minutes at 4 p.m.
