Springfield family homeless after early morning fire

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Just before 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, firefighters responded to a house on Fox Hill Road.

Dennis Leger, aide to Fire Commissioner Joseph Conant, told CBS 3 that a fire started in the rear of the home and spread into the living room area.

Leger estimated the damage at $70,000.

Investigators are classifying the blaze as accidental.

The Red Cross is assisting the mother and two children that lived in the house.
