Northwestern District Attorney David Sullivan is warning that the area could see more deadly heroin overdoses if so-called "super heroin" makes its way to Western Mass.
Heroin laced with Fentanyl, which is a powerful synthetic painkiller, has been linked to at least three overdose deaths in East Windsor, CT since November.
The powerful drug has also been reported in Vermont.
Sullivan says so far no traces of "super heroin" have showed up in Franklin or Hampshire Counties.
According to state police 185 people have died in the past four months in the area because of heroin overdoses.
Earlier this week city leaders, law enforcement and the Northwestern District Attorney met in Greenfield to discuss how to tackle what they're calling an "epidemic" of heroin in Western Massachusetts.
A task force has been created to work on cracking down on the drug, which is becoming a major problem because of it's cheap price and availability.
