TRUMBULL, Conn. (AP) - A Trumbull police officer has been charged with sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl he met in a police cadet program for high school students.
State police arrested 44-year-old William Ruscoe on Monday night on three counts of sexual assault and one count of witness tampering.
The girl told police she was in the Trumbull Police Explorers program and was 17 last fall when Ruscoe sexually assaulted her at his home in Trumbull. An arrest warrant says the assault involved forced inappropriate touching.
Another teenage girl told police that she and Ruscoe exchanged explicit messages including nude photos after meeting at a cadet camp in Hartford in 2012.
Ruscoe posted $50,000 bail. Ruscoe's lawyer says he expects Ruscoe to plead not guilty at his March 5 arraignment in Bridgeport Superior Court.
