LONGMEADOW, MA (WSHM) -

When Longmeadow police received a complaint from a Quinnehtuk Road resident stating that two men were attempting to break into her car, officers responded and the two suspects fled on foot, according to Longmeadow police Sgt. Robert Stocks

The officer arrived to the crime scene about 9:30 p.m. Sunday and when he identified himself, the men ran toward Franklin Smith Road. The detective gave chase and apprehended one of the suspects, Stocks said. The second suspect was last seen running toward the Twin Hills Country Club.

Billy-Alicea Cruz, 18, of 72 Washburn St., Springfield, was charged with seven counts of breaking and entering at night, which is a felony, receiving stolen property and malicious damage, according to an arrest report.

Officers canvassed the area and discovered seven vehicles had been broken into, Stocks said. Items taken from the vehicles included wallets, GPS units, satellite radio receivers, jewelry and money, he said.

Anyone with information concerning the identity of the second individual is asked to contact the Longmeadow Police Detective Bureau at 413-567-3311.
