HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Gov. Dannel Malloy has signed an executive order creating a program that will use almost $11 million in federal funds to lower energy costs for Connecticut residents living in multifamily homes. The program will fund energy conservation or renewable energy projects to reduce energy use by at least 20 percent.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut could become the first state to curb loud movies under a bill that's drawing opposition from the motion picture industry. The bill would prevent theaters from showing a film or preview that exceeds 85 decibels. For eight-hour work shifts, that's the recommended maximum to stay below to minimize hearing loss.
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut lawmakers are considering a bill that would increase criminal penalties for sucker-punch attacks. The bill would make a so-called "knockout game" assault a felony, punishable by one-to-five years in prison and up to a $5,000 fine.
