Police arrested a 19-year-old Saturday night after receiving reports that he allegedly fired gun shots at people.
City resident Edgar Zayas was placed under arrest on the Veterans bridge, which connects Holyoke with South Hadley.
Police told CBS 3 when they arrived shortly before 9 p.m., Zayas refused to put down his gun and they had to draw their own weapons.
With two officers aimed on Zayas, a third officer tackled the 19-year-old and disarmed him.
Zayas later told investigators that he had taken the drug PCP and had become very depressed.
Police said no one was injured in the incident.
Zayas is being held on $5,000 bail and will be arraigned in Holyoke District Court on Monday.
Police also arrested a juvenile not far from the scene.
They said he was charged with disorderly conduct.
