Pedestrian dies following Fayetteville hit-and-run

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

Fayetteville Police officers are looking for the driver responsible for hitting and killing a pedestrian Wednesday night on North Street near Brinkley Drive.

Officers were dispatched to the scene around 11:30 p.m. in reference to a pedestrian that had been hit by a vehicle.

A preliminary investigation identified the pedestrian as Jerry Williams, 59. Williams died as a result of his injuries sustained during the collision, police said.

Officers say Williams was hit by an oncoming vehicle while crossing North Street.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene.

Anyone with information about the hit-and-run or can identify the suspect driver, is asked to call the Fayetteville Police Department at 910-433-1826 or Crimestoppers at 910-483-8477.
