DUNN, N.C. -

Some children experienced pick up delays Thursday morning after five buses were found vandalized in the parking lot of Harnett Primary School in Dunn.

The buses were discovered around 6 a.m. Thursday by a driver who smelled a smoke odor, according to Patricia Harmon-Lewis with Harnett Schools.

Four of the buses were damaged by someone spraying a fire extinguisher on the outside of the buses. Two of them were also sprayed on the inside.

One of the buses had a fire set inside it next to the driver's seat and had to be taken to the bus facility in Lillington for further repair.

The other four buses are expected to be cleaned and available to use Thursday afternoon.
