RALEIGH, N.C. -

On the heels of President Barack Obama's visit, N.C. State hosted nearly 200 engineering companies for a career fair Wednesday at the McKimmon Center.

Industrial and systems engineering is considered a particularly desirable engineering degree, and more than one third of today's companies were looking for workers in that field.

That includes N.C. State's 3-D printing technology.

N.C. State professor Anita Vila-Parrish said 3-D printing is a becoming more and more desirable because of the ability to print custom parts.

"So we have really great labs where students get exposure here," she said.

Organizers said about 3,500 job-seekers attended Wednesday.
