AMHERST, MA (WSHM) -

Amherst Regional High School officials have opened an investigation after the student who made an online threat last week filed a bullying complaint with the district.

School officials closed the school down for the day last Monday and police investigated after the student posted on Facebook that he brought a gun to school every day.

The student claims to have been bullied, according to our media partner MassLive and the Republican.

The school's principal sent a letter home to parents detailing their next steps. In that letter, the principal said that student, who is white, may also be facing a civil rights violation after several black students came forward alleging he used the "n" word.

The student will be kept out of school until all investigations are complete, according to the principal.
