A Springfield man was in critical condition after an ATV he was riding on city streets flipped over.
The driver of the ATV reportedly struck his head on a curb following the accident, according to Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney.
Springfield police responded to the intersection of Keddy Street and Leatherleaf Drive at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday for reports of ATV's speeding up and down city streets, Delaney said.
There was another ATV that was racing in the area when officers arrived, but the driver fled the scene after the accident, Delaney said.
The victim of the accident was a 29-year-old resident of Leatherleaf Driver. Police did not release his name. He was rushed to Baystate Medical Center and was in critical condition following the accident.
