Raleigh, Durham, Fayetteville, others shift trash pickups

Here are when some local communities will be collecting trash and recycling in light of Wednesday's snows"

Raleigh: Solid waste pickups were canceled for Wednesday. Thursday's collections will be delayed for two hours. Curbside collections will be pushed back a day, so Wednesday's collections will come on Thursday, Thursday's routes will be collected Friday and Friday's routes will be collected Saturday.

City of Durham: The city did not collect solid waste, recycling and yard waste on Wednesday. People scheduled to have those pick-ups Wednesday will have them picked up on Thursday. Thursday's regular customers will have their waste and recycling picked up Friday.

Orange County: Curbside recycling that was scheduled for Wednesday will be made up on Saturday, Feb. 1.

Clayton: No trash collection on Thursday. Wednesday and Thursday traffic will be picked up Friday. Friday trash will be collected Saturday.

Fayetteville: Thursday's garbage, yard waste and recycling will be rescheduled. Thursday's collections will take place on Saturday. Friday's collections will be as regularly scheduled.

    A woman claims she was running from an attacker and tried to jump a five foot fence when she became impaled. Firefighters had to use power saws and a grinding saw to cut her free, all while she was conscious. After 30 minutes she was transported to an area hospital for surgery to remove the spike sticking out of her thigh. It happened at Vine Cemetery in Hazleton. She said the nearest gate was locked.
