Man threatens to shoot Pride store clerk during robbery

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

A man who allegedly threatened to shoot a store clerk during an armed robbery early Wednesday is wanted by Springfield police.

The man reportedly walked into the Pride gas station on East Columbus Avenue just before 5:30 a.m. and approached the clerk, police said.

Detectives could not confirm if the suspect was armed, but police said he threatened to shoot the store clerk.

Nobody was injured. A description of the alleged suspect was not released.

This incident fell on the heels of a string of Springfield armed robberies. This was the fourth armed robbery in Springfield this week, three of which occurred within a 24-hour timespan.
