Worth, Albany split Tuesday games

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

With wet, cold weather wreaking havoc on many high school basketball games in Georgia, Albany and Worth County met up early to tip off their scheduled games.

The Worth County boys held off an Indians rally to keep their Region 1-AAAA lead, 80-77.

Tyler Cheese and Malik Mathis each hit three pointers with less than a minute left to cut the Worth lead to as small as three.

But that was as close as Albany would come.

The win pushes the Rams to 17-4 overall, and 9-2 in region play. The loss drops Albany to 11-7, and 6-6 in Region 1-AAAA.

Earlier in the afternoon, the Squaws led the Lady Rams for all 32 minutes in a 39-30 win.

The Squaws move to 2-9 in region play with the win.
