DURHAM, N.C. -

Actor, comedian and "executive transvestite" Eddie Izzard will bring his Force Majeure world tour to the Durham Performing Arts Center this spring.

Launched in March 2013, Force Majeure is billed as "the most extensive comedy tour ever," taking Izzard to 25 countries on five continents.

Among those stops will be DPAC on May 21. Tickets for the show go on sale Feb. 4, at 10 a.m.

As an actor, Izzard has received acclaim for roles in the NBC series "Hannibal" as well as "Mockingbird Lane," previously he starred in the FX series "The Riches." His film credits include "Valkyrie," "Across the Universe," "Ocean's Twelve," "Ocean's Thirteen," "The Cat's Meow" and "Mystery Men."

On stage, Izzard is "one of the most acclaimed comedians of his generation," earning him a New York Drama Desk Award and two Emmys for Dress to Kill, two British Comedy Awards for Top Stand-Up Comedian, and an Olivier Award nomination for Outstanding Achievement.

He is also the first solo stand-up comedian to perform at the Hollywood Bowl, has sold-out three consecutive nights at Radio City Music Hall and toured arenas throughout the U.S. including a sold-out show at Madison Square Garden.
