Police traffic stop unveils guns, drugs, cash

AUBURN, MA (WSHM) -

A state trooper on routine patrol in Auburn located two pistols, more than $2,500 cash, and an unidentified amount of cocaine and heroin, according to a Massachusetts State Police official.

The trooper spotted a green GMC Envoy traveling on Route 20 with illegally tinted windows Wednesday evening.

Police searched the SUV and located two firearms; a Ruger LCP .380 caliber pistol and a Jimenez Arms .380 caliber pistol. The search also revealed several plastic bags that contained a rock-like substance believed to be cocaine and a brownish powder substance believed to be heroin. In total, troopers seized $2,816 in cash.

The driver, Orlando Colon, 37, of Southbridge, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition without an FID card, defacing a firearm serial number, receiving stolen property, and improper storage of a firearm.

The passenger, Omar Ortiz, 24, of Southbridge, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition without an FID card, defacing a firearm serial number, receiving stolen property, possession to distribute a Class A drug, possession to distribute a Class B drug, possession of one ounce or less of marijuana and improper storage of a firearm.
