Willimantic police said two gunshots were fired inside a restaurant Saturday night as part of a robbery attempt.
It happened at the Subway on High Street, according to police.
Officers said they were called around 11 p.m. for a report of several shots and a panic alarm.
Witnesses told arriving officers that the suspect was 29-year-old Luis Feliciano, of Willimantic.
They also said Feliciano fled on foot north on High Street past Valley Street. He was arrested while trying to run through a backyard.
A K-9 unit had to be called to assist with the arrest because the suspect ignored commands, police said.
Investigators said they later determined that Feliciano entered the restaurant and demanded money.
When an employee stated that 911 was called, the suspect fired two shots into the kitchen area and fled.
No one was hurt.
Feliciano is facing a number of charges including first-degree robbery, reckless endangerment, interfering with an officer and carrying a gun without a permit.
Feliciano is being held on $500,000 bond and is due in Danielson Superior Court on Monday.
