A family of three and their dog are safe Saturday night after an explosion likely destroyed their home.
The incident happened at a home on Rhinebeck Avenue shortly after 7 a.m. on Saturday.
Dennis Leger, executive aide to Fire Commissioner Joseph Conant, told CBS 3 it appears that there was an over-pressurization of the boiler.
That build-up of pressure caused an explosion in the basement.
While the house looks OK on the outside, Leger said the inside is a mess.
He said floors and walls have buckled.
Experts will be in on Monday to determine what caused the pressure to build up.
