A woman was in stable condition at a Phoenix hospital after she was shot in her apartment Thursday night. Her husband and an infant in bed with her were unharmed.
Phoenix police Sgt. Steve Martos said multiple shots were fired at the family's unit in a complex of the Biltmore on the Lake apartments near Interstate 17 and Peoria Avenue about midnight.
Martos said the woman was hit multiple times, though her husband and an infant also in the bed were not hit.
Four children in another room of the apartment were also safe, Martos said.
Martos said police had no motive and no suspects, although two people in a car were detained but not arrested.
Martos said that because only one unit of the complex was involved, it was hard to determine whether the shooting was random or the family was targeted.
Police had received several reports throughout the evening of gunshots in the area, the spokesman said.
The woman was taken to John C. Lincoln-North Mountain Hospital and was expected to be OK, the spokesman said.
Martos said the investigation was ongoing.
