Gov. Deval Patrick is urging people across the state to use caution during Thursday and Friday's nor'easter.
He spoke with administration officials at the State House on Thursday, urging people to be prepared for any power outages that may come from the weather.
Patrick sent state workers home at 3 p.m. and asked local cities and towns to do the same.
He's also authorized the National Guard to assist across the state where needed.
"We have a serious and significant winter storm which will affect the whole of the state through today and tomorrow, the hazards in addition to snow include: strong winds, extremely cold temperatures and coastal flooding," he said.
Administration officials also say that Logan International Airport is operating but most flights will be canceled so if you are traveling, be sure to contact your airline.
