Phoenix police say they've tracked down a driver who tried to conceal his vehicle after a fatal hit-and-run on East Van Buren Street on Wednesday night.
On Friday, Phoenix police said Alexander Hearn, 52, has been arrested and booked into jail on a charge of leaving the scene of a fatal traffic collision.
Witnesses told police the 50-year-old victim was walking south on the crosswalk against the traffic signal at 24th and Van Buren streets about 9 p.m. when he was struck by a blue SUV, possibly a Toyota Sequoia, said Phoenix police Sgt. Steve Martos.
The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries, Martos said.
