Longmeadow discusses counter offer to MGM

LONGMEADOW, MA (WSHM) -

The Town of Longmeadow met Thursday night to discuss their surrounding community agreement with MGM.

No decision was made as to whether or not the town would sign the agreement. Instead, the select board discussed their counter offer with the gaming company.

Selectboard members said they still have questions about things from public safety to traffic.

Residents who attended the meeting said they're happy with the steps the selectboard is taking.

"I feel that through their efforts the town will probably get, I'm not going to say a great return, but the interest of the town will be protected as it possibly can be," said resident Richard Liasse.

Longmeadow is one of three towns who haven't officially committed to a surrounding agreement with MGM. Those other towns include Chicopee and West Springfield.

The towns of Agawam, Ludlow, Wilbraham and East Longmeadow all reached an agreement with MGM.
