WESTFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Stanley Park located along Western Ave in Westfield will get a grant to pay for renovations.

Massachusetts Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary Rick Sullivan and Department of Conservation and Recreation Commissioner Jack Murray announced a grant awarded by the Patrick Administration for the rehabilitation of areas in the park's Frank Stanley Beveridge Wildlife Sanctuary.

A $10,000 grant will fix bridges and boardwalks in the park damaged by storms in 2011.

The grant money comes from the state's Recreational Trails Program.

Robert McKeane is the managing director of the park. He said this money will be used for the hardest-hit areas.

"It means a lot because we're not a city or state park. We're a private non-profit, so this additional grant will help us. We we want people to get down there and enjoy it," said McKeane.

The Stanley Park project is one of 32 grants that were awarded to parks across the state.
