Happening later today, Coronado National Forest officials will announce their decision on the Rosemont Copper Project – the proposed copper mine in the Santa Rita Mountains.
The decision will be announced this afternoon at the Interagency Fire Center, located near Drexel and Tucson Blvd.
Forest officials will also share information on the objection process and timeline. The proposed copper mine would be located in the Santa Rita Mountains; with many key issues surrounding the project to include impacts to neighboring streams, water quality and the mine's ability to meet the Federal Clean Water Act.
The announcement is expected to come down at noon today.
