HOPEWELL, VA (WWBT) -

Two men are behind bars, charged in a deadly double shooting out of Hopewell.

24-year-old Chaz Brown and 26-year-old Andre Mason Jr. are both charged with murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Investigators said the pair were behind a shooting on Piper Square Drive back on December 3.

46-year-old Morris Flowers Jr. died from his injuries. The second victim recovered.

"Based upon on our investigation it appears the deceased victim, Mr. Flowers, was not the intended target but was at the wrong place at the wrong time," said Chief John Keohane in a statement released Friday afternoon.  "We have expressed our deepest sympathies to the Flowers family and we are thankful to bring some closure to them during the holiday season."

Mason is being held without bond at the Riverside Regional Jail, while Brown is being held without bond in the Petersburg City Jail.
