GREENFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Greenfield firefighters are currently figuring out how many residents will be out of their apartments after a fire at the Mill House apartments at 75 Wells St. in Greenfield Tuesday night.

Firefighters were able to contain the flames to one unit in the 103-unit, four-story building near downtown Greenfield.

Crews from several towns including South Deerfield and Turners Falls responded to put the flames out and help the building's tenants get to safety, many of whom are elderly or handicapped.

Tenants were moved to a safe part of the complex as firefighters put the flames out.

A firefighter, police officer and resident all went to the hospital with smoke inhalation. They are expected to be OK.

Firefighters aren't sure how many residents will be displaced from their apartments.

They're still investigating how the fire started.
