BOSTON (AP) - A spokesman for Republican gubernatorial candidate Charlie Baker says Baker is endorsing Karyn Polito in her run for lieutenant governor.
Polito, a former state representative who ran for treasurer in 2010 and lost to Democrat Steven Grossman, has been mentioned as a possible candidate for treasurer or lieutenant governor.
Grossman is running for governor next year.
Polito said she'll make an announcement about her political plans Tuesday at a diner in her home town of Shrewsbury.
Baker, the former head of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, is the only Republican running for governor and is scheduled to attend Polito's announcement.
Governors and lieutenant governors run separately in their respective party primaries in Massachusetts, but Republican candidates in recent times have typically identified their preferred running mates earlier in the process.
