Chicopee firefighters are investigating an apartment fire Thursday that displaced a tenant and killed her cat.
According to our media partner, Masslive.com, firefighters responded to a fire at the Canterbury Arms Apartment building at 165 East Main St. at 1 a.m. Thursday.
Masslive.com said the tenant was not injured and that other residents were evacuated.
Firefighters said there was still a heavy smoke odor in the building, which is part of the Chicopee Housing Authority. Officials said a window was open and a fan was being used to help get rid of the smell on the fifth floor.
Masslive.com said the door to the apartment was covered in soot.
This is still under investigation.
