The Westover Young Marines teamed up with the Pioneer Valley USO on Saturday as the group pitched in to help collect food for veterans in need at Stop and Shop.
Each year, the Pioneer Valley USO supplies Thanksgiving baskets to local veterans who otherwise might not be able to have a holiday dinner.
The Pioneer Valley USO's president said there has been an increase of those in need recently.
"The food pantry that we have at the base in Westover, this year we have seen an increase. It's doubled, actually, with the need," said David Jubinville. "So, we are getting around 200 people or so, families coming in and looking for some help."
The Westover Young Marines also collected food at the Stop and Shop in Westfield on Saturday.
The group has taken part in this event for the last several years.
