The Springfield City Council passed a moratorium to delay medical marijuana dispensaries from coming to the city.
The council voted Monday to stop dispensaries from coming to Springfield until June 30, 2014 or until new zoning regulations are finalized.
The city is trying to find a balance between getting patients the services they need and public safety.
As many as 35 dispensaries will come to the state with at least one in every county.
A county can't have more than five.
