DANVERS, Mass. (AP) - Classes at Danvers High School have been canceled, a day after a 14-year-old student was charged with killing a popular math teacher.
The school, however, will be open between 10 a.m. and noon Thursday when grief counselors will be made available to staff and students.
Classes are scheduled to resume Friday.
Classes at the town's other public schools will go on as normal Thursday. All the town's schools were closed Wednesday.
Authorities have charged student Philip Chism with killing 24-year-old math teacher Colleen Ritzer, a crime that has shaken the middle class community about 20 miles north of Boston.
The school has also scheduled an informational meeting for parents at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the school's field house.
