TEMPE, AZ (CBS5) -

Police say the suspects accused of stealing two professional racing bicycles and personal property during a triathlon at Tempe Town Lake on Sept. 22 have turned themselves in.

Tempe Police Department spokesman Gregory Duarte said Elijah Matthew Apodaca and Matthew Brandon Rouzaud recognized Apodaca's photo in the news and they turned themselves in about 4:10 p.m. on Thursday, at the Tempe police station, at 120 E. Fifth Street.

Investigators discovered that Apodaca and Rouzaud went in the bicycle transition area at Nathan's Triathlon in Tempe and removed two Cervelo racing bikes about 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 22.

Police said Apodaca removed a racing bike valued at $7,500 and Rouzaud stole a bike worth $6,000.

Apodaca was seen riding out of the US Airways parking garage southbound on Ash Avenue.

The two men have been booked into the Tempe jail on felony theft charges.
