List: Closures at Coconino National Forest recreation areas

The U.S. Forest Service has released a list of recreation sites that are closed in northern Arizona during the partial federal government shutdown.

No services or amenities are available at the following recreation sites on the Flagstaff, Mogollon Rim and Red Rock Ranger districts of the Coconino National Forest.

Flagstaff Ranger District 

  • Ashurst Lake Campground
  • Bonito Campground
  • Canyon Vista Campground
  • Dairy Springs Campground and Group Site
  • Double Springs Campground (closed for season)
  • Forked Pine Campground (closed for season)
  • Lakeview campground
  • Little Elden Springs Horse Camp (closed for season)
  • Lockett Meadow Campground
  • O'Leary Group Site
  • Pinegrove Campground
  • Lower Lake Mary Picnic Area and Boat Launch
  • Upper Lake Mary Picnic Area and Boat Launch No. 1 and No. 2
  • Narrows Picnic Area and Boat Launch (closed for season)
  • Griffith Springs Day Use Site
  • Doney Park Picnic Site
  • Painted Desert Vista
  • Fernow Cabin
  • Kendrick Cabin
  • Peak View Day Use Site
  • Walker Lake Day Use Site
  • Schultz Tank Trailhead

Red Rock Ranger District

Recreation Resource Management of America sites on the forest are now closing recreation sites they manage, notifying current campers they have 48 hours to vacate.

Undeveloped trailheads will remain open and trail and road use across the forest is not restricted at this time. All Coconino offices are closed.
