SCOTTSDALE, AZ (CBS5) -

A pair of horses that escaped from a fenced yard were struck and killed by separate vehicles in Scottsdale on Tuesday morning.

A Scottsdale police spokesman said the horses darted into Shea Boulevard near 69th Street just before 9:45 a.m. when they were struck.

Both died from the impact, the spokesman said, but neither the drivers nor the passengers in the vehicles were injured.

Eastbound Shea Boulevard was restricted while the animals were removed from the road.
