It was a festive time at the Elks Club on Sunday, as 300 people took part in the 10th annual Cancer Survivors Day.
The event, which featured the theme "celebrate life", is put together each year by the staff of the Cancer Center at Mercy Hospital.
The hospital does not sponsor the event, as it is strictly done with fundraising by the staff.
Organizers told CBS 3 that the enjoyment of the day is for both the patients and the caregivers.
"It's an honor to have taken care of these patients and to know that they're doing well," said Nancy Engelbrecht, a radiation therapist for Mercy. "They give us just as much joy and compassion that we share with them every day. It's very fulfilling to know that they're happy and well. We share in that joy."
Not only was there food, those in attendance on Sunday got to enjoy an Elvis impersonator, as well as a balloon release.
