167 people became American citizens at a ceremony in Springfield Wednesday. 173 people were originally scheduled to take part in the ceremony according to Park Ranger Jennifer Zazo.
The people gathered at the historic Springfield Armory and represented 62 countries.
More than 18,000 people were expected to become U.S. citizens at more than 180 ceremonies across the country. Those ceremonies ran from Sept. 16 through Sept. 23 in honor of Constitution Day and Citizenship Day.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Kenneth Neiman presided over the ceremony.
