The pews at St. Michael's Cathedral were packed Saturday afternoon, but it was not for an ordinary Mass.
The Pink Mass was held to support those affected by cancer in any way and was open to people of all faiths.
Pink ribbons and flowers decorated the church, while those in attendance prayed for cancer survivors, those lost to the disease and those still battling it.
The Pink Mass started in 2011 by the Celebration of Hope of Western Mass Committee.
"Well, I think it's wonderful that they put this together," said Kimberly Clemons, a cancer survivor. "I am a cancer survivor of one year and I think it's wonderful that people come together and support. It was a beautiful mass and I enjoyed it a lot."
Celebration of Hope held a fundraising dinner following the Mass at Springfield Lodge of Elks.
The money raised at the dinner will be distributed to four local charities.
