PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A person arrested in the case of a missing Massachusetts girl found safe with a man in Rhode Island is scheduled to appear in federal court in Providence.

The office of Rhode Island U.S. Attorney Peter Neronha says the person will make an initial appearance at 12:30 p.m. Friday.

No details have been released, including his name and charges.

Medfield, Mass., Police Chief Robert Meaney Jr. has said 17-year-old Brittany Thompson was located "safe and unharmed" walking down a Coventry, R.I., street Thursday. Meaney didn't say if it was the same man she was seen leaving the Medfield library with on Monday.

Brittany's parents had publicly appealed for the return of their developmentally delayed daughter. They said she may have met someone online.

Her father says she's in good spirits.
