National Grid Massachusetts prepares for future emergencies

Posted: Updated:
NORTHAMPTON, MA (WSHM) -

September is National Emergency Preparedness Month, and National Grid Massachusetts showcased their procedure when it comes to preparing for severe weather and emergencies on Tuesday afternoon.

The company said after severe storms including Hurricane Sandy and the October Nor'easter, they have added new technologies and processes that they say will help further speed restoration in the future during an emergency.

"We've learned so many lessons about communicating with customers about our storm preparedness. This preparedness awareness month, we thought to talk to people about some of the advances that we've made, technology that we're now using and that our customers can use," said Marcy Reed, President of National Grid Massachusetts.

National Grid said the company routinely reviews and enhances its emergency response plans throughout the year.
