There was a party Downtown on Saturday afternoon but you did not need to be a city resident to enjoy it.
Citizens for the Revitalization and Urban Success of Holyoke, or CRUSH, hosted the fifth annual Holyoke Block Party.
The event, which was held on High Street, provides family-friendly activities such as food, live music and arts and crafts for kids.
CRUSH put together the event in 2009 to help promote a positive image of the city.
"I think that often times people think of Holyoke and they think of dilapidated buildings or a crime-ridden city," said Mike Funk, one of the organizers of the party. "I don't think that they look at the other side of it, where there's a lot of folks that are educated, artistic and also community builders."
The party has evolved over time.
After being held inside parks the first four years, it was moved to the streets of downtown this year.
The event started at 12 p.m. and lasted until 9 p.m.
