The man accused of Killing Amy Lord attempted suicide Wednesday night.
Edwin Alemany, 28, was arraigned in West Roxury District Court Thursday morning in the case of Lord's murder and is being held without bail.
According to the Associated Press, Jeffrey Denner, Alemany's attorney told the court that he tried to kill himself in the Nashua Street Jail. Denner said Alemany now has self-inflicted scratches on his arms and neck as a result.
Alemany is accused of kidnapping Lord and forcing her to withdraw money from multiple ATM machines before murdering her. Lord's body was found the same day she was murdered at Stony Brook Reservation.
Alemany plead not guilty and was held on a $3 million bail Wednesday for allegedly assaulting two other women on July 23 and 24.
According to Denner, Alemany has a history of severe mental health problems.
